Camp Koi 2011
The 2011 season of Camp Koi featured 4 summer camps. Three 3-day weekends and one week-long camp enabled young artist the opportunity to explore several forms of art and mediums. Each camp, held at Koi Studio consisted of one or two days of Plein Air painting, and several acrylic, watercolor and drawing projects. We painted the gorgeous flower gardens at Derek Fell’s estate, the Eighteenth-Century American Settlements at Moravian College in Bethlehem and the Canal and Bridge at Centre Bridge and Stockton. Students learned how to look for good composition, bring out important details, gain perspective and capture light and shadows. Students also explore abstract painting from nature and simple object. Most Campers are regular students at Koi Studio, but this year we also enrolled outside artists to join the fun. 5 camp Scholarships were awarded to several special campers. Teens looking to study art in college worked on portfolio pieces and experienced the full-time structure of life as an Artist.
